Rayovac Files Patent Infringement Suit Against Duracell

MADISON, Wis., April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Rayovac Corp. (NYSE: ROV) filed a patent infringement suit yesterday against Duracell in U.S. District Court. The suit alleges that Duracell has infringed two Rayovac patents pertaining to zinc air battery technology.

The suit asks for an injunction against the sale of Duracell zinc air batteries that infringe the Rayovac patents, and also seeks damages.

Zinc air batteries are used primarily in hearing aid applications. Rayovac hearing aid batteries are the world's leading brand with a 58% market share.

Rayovac is the third largest U.S. manufacturer of batteries. According to data provided by A.C. Nielsen, Rayovac is the fastest growing U.S. battery company. The company also markets the number one selling rechargeable brand and is the world leader in hearing aid batteries. Rayovac is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ROV symbol.
